how long has reliable construction been in business?
We started this company in April of 2001. All the construction jobs we’ve done over the years have given us the experience to make your projects go as smoothly as possible.
What kind of work does Reliable Construction do?
We build custom homes, home additions, large renovations, kitchen remodels and even bathroom re-dos. We also do commercial upfits and renovations.
do you have insurance and the proper licenses needed?
Reliable Construction is fully licensed and insured. We have our residential builder license and our commercial general contractor license to build commercial structures. To protect our customers, we have workers comp and general liability insurance. For any contractor that you use, always ask for proof of insurance and licensing to protect you and your property.
What are some problems you see with new construction in this Charleston area?
Most houses are built too low to the existing ground (grade). When this occurs, rain water will run towards the house and cause an array of water problems like water damaged wood, mold, termites, etc. We at Reliable build all of our structures where rain water quickly sheds from the house, hits the ground and flows away from the walls of the house.
What kind of windows should i use?
We use white vinyl windows with Low-E glass with a design pressure of 50, (DP-50). These windows are strong, very efficient and will not deteriorate over time. We can use impact windows (hurricane windows) if you prefer them as well.
What kind of roof shingle is good?
We use the Owens Corning Architectural shingle. Reliable Construction is an Owens Corning Preferred Contractor. We will provide our customer with a lifetime limited warranty from Owens Corning and a 130 MPH wind warranty with every installation.
How do I make selections for paint, tile, wood or hardware for my project?
We will help you with all your selections to pull all of your colors together for just the right look in every room.
What kind of siding is best?
Here in the low country, cement siding (Hardie) is the most popular. It’s very strong, dimensionally stable and when primed properly, holds paint for many years without needing to be repainted. Brick is the most maintenance free but also the most expensive. Wood siding is not very practical because of potential water damage and heavy maintenance needed. Vinyl siding is the least expensive but it cannot be painted.
Can I talk to some of your past customers?
Yes, we encourage our customers to ask past Reliable Construction clients about their experience with us. We will be glad to give you a long list of our previous customers.
How do I get house plans started?
Reliable Construction offers a design/build service. We will help you with your architectural plans to give you the look you want and the functionality. Then, we’ll create the structural engineered drawings required for permitting. Reliable Construction also has several custom home plans that we’ve created. These plans are also very easy to modify to suit your individual needs.
